The Centre comprises several buildings, including a specially designed Buddhist temple. All are located on approximately 70 acres of a mostly forested estate grounds. Although the location is in a relatively remote part of northwest England, it is easy to access the Centre by train. There are frequent trains that leave Manchester airport and arrive in Ulverston. The New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKT-IKBU) is an international association of Mahayana Buddhist study and meditation centres founded by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche in 1991 to offer the practical wisdom of Kadampa Buddhism to the people of our modern world. The purpose of the NKT-IKBU is to offer the unmistaken path to both temporary and ultimate inner peace and happiness. It is an entirely independent Buddhist tradition that has no political affiliations.

International Kadampa Dharma Festivals

Each year there are three main festivals in which Kadampa Buddhists from all over the world gather to receive teachings, empowerments, and engage in meditation retreat. These festivals are special spiritual holidays that are truly meaningful, and enable us to return home happy, energized, and inspired. The Spring Festival and Summer Festivals are held at Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre. The Fall Festival is held in different countries around the world, bringing this precious opportunity for a meaningful vacation to everyone. If you have never attended a festival you are highly encouraged to take such an opportunity and experience first hand these amazing events. The profits from the festivals are used exclusively to build Kadampa temples and meditation Centres throughout the world.
